HELP BUILD AN ORPHANAGE/SCHOOL IN AFRICA

In the rural town of Paterson South Africa is a small makeshift “safe house” where currently 8 orphans reside. They are lovingly looked after by the wonderful people of Isipho, who through volunteer efforts, inconsistent funding, sheer determination and love, provide a place for these vulnerable children to live. They have either lost their parents to HIV/AIDS, been abandoned, or have been removed from their home due to abuse or lack of family to care for them. They all live in one room together, and share one bathroom with the 60 plus children of the preschool program during the day. There are at least an additional 15 children in the community who need immediate help. Unfortunately, there currently just isn’t the space to assist them. That is about to change!
Shady Tree Foundation, along with several local business’ and volunteers, will help Isipho build the facility they need to safely and efficiently assist the current orphans, and the many more who need a place to call home. Land nearby is being acquired, architectural plans are being created, and funding is being raised to build an orphanage to replace the temporary building currently being used. Please donate today, and your funds will go directly to the children of Isipho. Keep updated on the buildings progress through our website and provide hope for a child who needs it most!
STOP THE SPREAD OF HIV/AIDS
The Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV), and its resultant Auto-Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS), are decimating the disadvantaged communities of South Africa. Statistics vary, and depending upon whose perspective you believe, it is estimated that approximately 20% of the population is infected. In the rural areas it is believed that the number may be as high as 35%. Paterson South Africa, where our current project is located falls into that rural category. According to the Starfish Foundation, by 2010 as many as 7 million people will likely die of AIDS in Africa, and there will be approximately 1.7 million orphans as a result of that statistic. Your donation will help provide AIDS awareness education in the community; and enable an ongoing support group to provide assistance to those infected, as well as affected, by the HIV/AIDS virus. This includes children and adults together.
There is free testing within the community, however the medications and care often needed to support the individuals infected is approximately 90 miles away in the city of Port Elizabeth. Many cannot afford transportation to appointments, are too sick to travel, or do not have the family to care for their children while making the journey into Port Elizabeth. Your donation will provide vouchers for transportation to and from the clinic for medications and check-ups; provide in-home hospice care visits for such things as cooking, feeding and bathing for those too ill to do this on their own; as well as educational support groups so that people can help each other cope with the affects of AIDS and prevent the spreading of HIV, and daycare services and meals for the children affected by HIV/AIDS.
FEED AND CLOTHE A CHILD IN NEED
For less than $10 a month you can provide a child with healthy meals. You can also provide tuition, books, supplies, plus lunch for an older child along with after school care. Going to school is not an option for all children in Paterson. Even a public education has fees that most families cannot afford. If a child cannot learn, and thrive, how can a child survive? Building a foundation of education, healthy meals, and proper healthcare for a child is instrumental in improving their self-esteem. This newly found self-esteem can give a child the ability to help themselves overcome the many obstacles that living in poverty gives them every day. Be a part of changing a child’s life today. Your donation will make a difference!
